What Does The Bible Say Will Happen In The Future

What will Israel be like in a thousand years? Will it still exist? If so, who will populate it? How about the USA and Iran?  If you were to venture to guess, how accurate do you think your guesses would be? What does the Bible say will happen in the future?

The famous atheist, Bertrand Russell was asked in a magazine interview, (Look magazine, “What is an Agnostic?” 1953) what would he accept as evidence for God’s existence? He replied that if a voice came from heaven and predicted a series of events, and those events all came to pass, then he would believe.

Two thousand seven hundred and fifty years ago, the Bible predicted that Nineveh, the capital of the ancient Assyrian empire and one of the greatest cities of the ancient world, would be destroyed. It was in fact destroyed in the following generation. Today, Nineveh’s location is marked by two large mounds. (Nahum 3:7)

Conversely, although it was a far less powerful city than Nineveh, the Bible said that Jerusalem would continue to exist. (Joel 3:20)

The Bible said that the great Phoenician fortified city of Tyre, with walls 45 meters high, would be destroyed, scraped like the top of a rock, and thrown in the sea. It also said that fishermen would spread their nets where the city once stood. (Ezekiel 26) This prophecy was fulfilled when Nebuchadrezzar attacked the mainland of Tyre, and when Alexander the Great conquered the island of Tyre. Debris of mainland Tyre was used to build a land bridge that still exists today which connects the island to the mainland.

Ashqelon LRR

The Bible said that the ancient Philistine city of Ashkelon would continue to exist, although the Biblical Philistines would disappear as a people. (Amos 1:8) The Bible predicted that the remnant of the Jewish people would populate it after God bought them back from exile.  (Zephaniah 2:4-7) About 110,000 Jewish people live in Ashkelon today.

The Bible said that the Jewish people would lose their land, and become scattered throughout the world. It also said that while they were scattered around the world, they wouldn’t lose their national identity. In the last days, it said, God would gather them back to their land, and would make them a nation there again. (Ezekiel 36) This prophecy was fulfilled in 1948.

These are just a few of the many fulfilled prophecies in the Bible. Neither the Koran, nor the Hindu scriptures, nor Buddhism have prophecies remotely like this. A test to find the true God is: ascertain the One Who knows the future, and has the last word of judgment.

Can the same test be applied to the New Testament?

The New Testament predicted the destruction of the temple, and the invasion of Jerusalem.

Temple Mount southwestern corner, tb082305608 LRAnd Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple. And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. (Matthew 24:1-2)

For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side, And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation. (Luke 19:43, 44)

This prophecy was fulfilled in 70 AD, and recorded by Josephus Flavius, an eyewitness, who described this event in his book The Jewish War.

The New Testament predicts this list of characteristics that will not only occur but be acceptable in the last days:

" …in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of Godliness, but denying the power thereof…" (2 Timothy 3:1-5) These are the characteristics of this generation.

The New Testament predicts that there will be wars, great earthquakes, and famines in the last days.

earthquake LR“And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.” For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.”(Mark 13:7-8, Matthew 24:21)

Wars, great earthquakes, and famines can be proven from current world news and statistics. Never have there been so many wars all over the world, involving so many nations. In the last 100 years, an estimated 70 million people died across the world due to famine.

What does the Prophet Daniel from the Tenach say will happen in the end times?

There will be an increase in travel and knowledge: “But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.” (Daniel 12:4)

Several thousand years have passed, with little development in transportation, until this last century. People travel more today than ever before.  Over fourteen million passengers passed through Ben Gurion airport in 2013.

This prophecy also states that in the end times, knowledge shall be increased”.

At the time of this prophecy, books were rare and very expensive. A copy of the Books of Moses would have cost perhaps a lifetime of wages. Nowadays, a child with an internet mobile phone can access literally billions of articles and books from all over the world any time of day.

What does the Prophet Joel from the Bible say will happen in the end times?

“For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem, I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.” (Joel 3:1-2)

When is the United Nations collectively trying to divide Israel? Presently

The United Nations sign on the board of the aircraft

When will God bring the nations against Israel? Anytime soon, seeing the UN, comprising of 193 nations, are presently considering dividing the land of Israel through a unilateral decision.

Just as Lot, who escaped the destruction of Sodom, and Noah, who escaped the flooding of the earth, the purpose of this article, is to explain how you too may escape the coming judgments and wrath of God.

What does the Word of God teach will happen in the latter days?

The Messianic Jewish believers, and other born again Christians, who trust in the blood sacrifice Jesus made on the cross for forgiveness of their sins will be taken by God to heaven even as Enoch was taken before the flood (Genesis 5:24). Idolatrous religions calling themselves “Christian” (such as The Catholic Church, the Russian Orthodox Church etc.) will not be taken because they follow a man-made works-based religion rather than the Bible message of salvation by grace through faith in the finished sacrifice of the Lord Jesus on the cross. Those who do not have a personal relationship with God through the Lord Jesus Christ will have to endure the Great Seven Year Tribulation that is to come on the earth.

A global leader will appear on the world scene, who will have great power.

A third temple will be erected in Jerusalem. This is not the temple described in the book of Ezekiel.

After approximately 3½ years, the world leader will defile the temple and seek to be worshiped as God….  (Daniel 9:27, 11:31, 12:11-12)

A time of great trouble for 3½ years which will be the most dreadful days the world has ever known. (Daniel 12:1)

Only one-third of the Jewish people will survive.  “And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the Lord, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein. And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The Lord is my God." (Zechariah 13:8,9)

The True Messiah Jesus will return. “And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced(Zechariah 12:9,10)

What is the Biblical description of the coming anti-God world leader and power?

Imprimir

He will “…think to change times and laws…” (Daniel 7:25)

“…magnify himself above every God…” (Daniel 11:36)

“…speak marvellous things against the God of Gods…” (Daniel 11:36)

“…for he shall magnify himself above all. But in his estate shall he honour the God of forces: and a God whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things…” (Daniel 11: 37-38)

“…and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.” (II Thessalonians 2:3-4)

“…shall divide the land for gain…” (Daniel 11: 39)

He will “…pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice…” (Daniel 11:31)

“And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.” (Revelation 13:16-17)

What will happen if you worship this anti-Christ and take the mark in your right hand or your forehead?

“If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.” (Revelation 14:9-11)

Airport LRUntil recent years, people have wondered at the New Testament prophecy made nearly 2000 years ago of a global authority requiring the world population to receive a mark in their hand or forehead. Without the mark they will not be able to buy and sell. With present day technology and the move toward globalisation, this is a possible present day reality. The Ben Gurion airport expedites travel and verifies identity with a few biometric hand readers. With biometric hand reading units throughout the world reading millions of hands each day, the world population is being conditioned to accept and use this type of technology.

Microchip

Infopet in California track animals with tiny microchips about the size of a grain of rice. The chip is placed into the pet and carries a unique identification code that is linked to a name, phone number, and pet's medical information. This technology is also used in various applications in humans around the world today. When globalisation is achieved, the process of forcing people to take a mark will be a simple operation.

“And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.” (Revelation 20:4)

How you can personally escape the eternal wrath of God

Your options

  1. Confess and repent of your many sins before God and accept Jesus as your Messiah and Saviour. If you do this before the tribulation, God will take you to heaven and you will escape the wrath of God, the great 7 year tribulation and Gog and Magog war. "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord." (1 Thessalonians 4:16, 17)

  1. During the tribulation, confess and repent of your sins before God and accept Jesus as your Messiah and Saviour. Persevere until death or the end of the 7 year tribulation.

  1. Persevere until the end of the seven year tribulation (about half the world’s population will die during this time) without taking the mark on your hand or forehead. Repent of your sin and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour as He returns to rule and reign for a thousand years on earth.

"And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn." (Zechariah 12:9,10)

If you reject the God of Israel and His Messiah Jesus, you will eventually be judged by God and be sent to the lake of fire to suffer torment forever.

"And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name." (Revelation 14:9-11)

"And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire." (Revelation 20:13-15)

The Bible study on this website is designed to answer these questions and explain how you can escape the coming judgments and the wrath of God. This is the good news.
